The News Photographers Association of Canada winners of its annual National Pictures of the Year 2017 recognize the excellence represented in submissions by Canada’s outstanding photojournalists whose compelling images collectively represented a spectacular body of work.
Photographers use their cameras as tools of exploration, documentation and ultimately, as instruments of change. Over 2,000 images were submitted for consideration by Canada’s premier photojournalist competition, the National Pictures of the Year (NPOY) awards. They are a testament to the ideal that photography matters—now more than ever.
Audiences in Vancouver, Toronto, Saguenay and most recently Duncan, BC. have loved this exhibit. There are plans for the exhibit to travel to Calgary, Winnipeg and Ottawa as part of their photo festivals.
This exhibit made possible by NPAC, Bandstra Transportation Systems Ltd. and the Kitimat Museum & Archives.
