Scream of the Forest, by Robin Rowland Photography

The Scream of the Forest, by Robin Rowland Photography, showing in the Upstairs Gallery at the Kitimat Museum & Archives from January 10 to February 29, 2020.

The forest is screaming, a symbol of environmental catastrophe.

A few years ago, Robin Rowland noticed a knot on an old stump that bore a remarkable resemblance to Edward Munch’s famous paintings collectively known as “The Scream.”

Since then he has been photographing the old knot in all four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall and in all weather conditions, rain, snow, mist, and summer sun.

Rowland states, “As the world hurtles toward climate catastrophe, species extinction and destruction of biodiversity, the trees and plants have no voice in the polarized political debates—but make no mistake the forest IS screaming.”

This exhibition will continue until February 29th, 2020
